About Us

Voices in Crayons was founded by Laura Cortes, a Creative Director, mother, and humanitarian from Portugal and Canada.

As a mother, Laura couldn’t look away from the voices of Gaza’s children — children who dream, laugh, and draw just like her own. She created Voices in Crayons to give those voices a way to be seen and remembered, using the universal language of a child’s drawing.

Each story begins as a message or sketch sent from Gaza, then is transformed through AI trained on millions of children’s artworks from around the world — preserving their innocence and turning their words into illustrated stories of resilience and hope.

Our mission is to ensure no child’s voice is lost to war or silence — to turn fleeting testimonies into lasting, shareable moments that cross borders, awaken empathy, and remind us of our shared humanity.

Our Manifesto

We believe children’s voices are sacred.

We believe motherhood has no borders.

We believe art can be activism.

We believe empathy is stronger than distance.

And we believe even a crayon can become a microphone for hope.
